Description

Black & white photograph, Stone Cottage at Val-kill & a portrait of Eleanor Roosevelt, from a set of souvenir cards. From the reverse: "At the suggestion of Franklin Roosevelt, this stone cottage of Dutch farm house design was built by Eleanor & her friends in 1925. Val-Kill, comprised of the cottage & later buildings, was a retreat for Mrs. Roosevelt during her almost 20 years in public life. After President Roosevelt's death in 1945, Mrs. Roosevelt made her home at Val-Kill. More than any other dwelling place, it is associated with the causes of Human Rights & World Peace to which she devoted her life. ERVK, a cooperating organization, is dedicated to the use of Val-Kill as a living, working memorial to Eleanor Roosevelt."
