Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1936 Ford Phaeton
Geolocation
Description
Color photograph. From the reverse: "The President's widely known dark blue Ford-a 1936 de luxe Phaeton with white side-wall tires. It is equipped with manually operated gear shift & brakes, installed especially for the President. The upholstery is brown leather; the monogrammed white metal cigarette lighter on the steering wheel still contains two battered Camel cigarettes. The speedometer stands at 19143 miles. In 1937 the 'N.Y. #3' license plate & this car were a familiar site on country roads in Dutchess County as he inspected his Xmas trees, visited old houses, called on friends."
