"First Cash Run of a Trolley in Poughkeepsie took place Oct 11, 1894. The News-Press wrote of the event: 'At precisely 29 minutes past 4 o' clock on the afternoon of Monday, Oct 11, 1894, the first electric car to run over the Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Electric railway was run out of the powerhouse in upper Main Street. It was Car No. 8, painted a London smoke color with stripes of silver, and was handsomely upholstered."
